Shacknews have interviewed an exec. behind the development of Borderlands, here's a few exerpts:"The art style...is the glue to everything," Gearbox's Mikey Neumann explains above the gentle hum of a crowded meeting room during E3. "It allows us to embrace what our game actually is, and man, when we had that epiphany, when it all came together, we were like, 'shit man, that's what this game is, this game is about having fun.'"
"During cert, if you have a lot of level designers who have nothing to do--which is pretty common, you pull level design and art off first--they're gonna be making cool shit," Neumann notes hypothetically. "That cool shit, that tends to be what DLC ends up being. It's the stuff we couldn't add to the game because we're making it during cert."

Billions of Kredits have been stolen from the largest Bank in the Eve game, by one of the players that acted as director for the institution. The 27 year old Australian named only as Richard, took the billions of virtual currency, and sold them for over £3000 in real money.
"Basically this character was one of the people who had been running EBank for a while. He took a bunch of (virtual) money out of the bank, and traded it away for real money," Ned Coker, of Icelandic company CCP which runs Eve, told the Reuters news agency.

A giant electromagnetic system developed by a company called General Atomic, has been given the go ahead and a half billion dollar loan by the US government. The so-called Electro Magnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) is intended to replace traditional steam catapults in all future US carriers.
Fixed wing jets and prop planes need to use catapults to fire the plane forward when taking off from aircraft carriers, as even with the ship sailing into the wind at full speed, there isn't enough room for them to get up to speed without them.
Since world war II steam powered catapults have been used, but now this system could be set to replace it.

With reports flying in that case discolouration has occurred on many iPhones while being used in the heat, Apple has released a statement saying it's a good idea not to use them when it's hot. The recommended operational ambient temperature range is between zero and 35 degrees Celsius, which works out to 32 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit for you INQ readers in the US.
Apple has said that the iPhone can use up extra battery or even stop working temporarily under excess heat conditions.
This gives Apple a reason to blame their obviously flawed design of the new iPhone on the recent heatwave.

Thermaltake has announced the release of their latest water cooling kit in the ProWater series; the the PW880i. Compatible with Intel's LGA775, LGA1366 and AMD 939, AM2, AM2+ and AM3 CPUs the PW880i is made up of a water block, pump, liquid tank, and a rather large 240mm radiator.
"The 336g heavy water block is made out of pure copper and supports 3/8-inch tubing. The rest of the pack includes a 500l/hr pump that generates just 16dBA of noise and has a MTBF of 80,000 hours, and which draws liquid from a 350cc liquid tank. The aluminum 240mm radiator comes with two fan that spins from 1000 to 2000 RPM and produces 20 to 28dBA of noise."

Speedo last year released a new technology of swimsuit, that allows for much improved swimming times at the highest level of competition. Now though, with several world records being brought home by people wearing the suits, including the world record setter from the Olympics last year, Michael Phelps, a huge spate of development has begun by other companies; seeing the release of several different suits.
The new materials used and manufacturing techniques are seen to be behind many of the record smashing that occurred last year.
One of the major issues with the new suit production however, is that they can only be warn by people sponsored by the makers; which is why only some wore the Speedo suit last year.

The guys at Shacknews have interviewed a member of the Starcraft II development team to get an insight into certain aspects of the title. "Shack: I played a version of StarCraft II two years ago, then last year, and now today. With the game being in a playable state for so long, obviously this has been a considerable iterative process for you guys. How has the experience been on your end?
Dustin Browder: Hard. [laughs] Yeah, it's easily the most challenging development environment I've ever worked in. It's really exacting. We're really focused on quality, and that doesn't mean--when I first thought about, I want to work at Blizzard, it's going to be so cool--I thought we would make the game and then polish it. But no: we polish it. That's what we do. "
