Lithium Ion batteries have been around for a long time now, but a new technology is on the horizon, due inbound next year, called Zinc-Air; and it can store up to 3 times as much power as the li-ion technology. Not only this, but apparently they are far cheaper to produce too.Initially they are planned to be only used as part of hearing aid production, but larger versions will be encorporated later on in mobile phones and notebooks.
A Swiss company called ReVolt is planning to unveil the technology next year, rolling it out over the coming 12 months.
However, they arn't the firm that developed then technology, in-fact developed by SINTEF.
If you want to find out how the zinc-air battery actually works, head on over to Dailytech as I'm not writing all that crap out here.
