The Asus Triton 79 Amazing

This Triton 79 Amazing stands upright on its solid nickel coated copper base, and is joined to seven heat pipes which run up through the fins.

The base of the cooler is 1.5cm thick- from its furthest point. The nickel coating is dark grey in colour and has a slight shine to it. However it’s not a mirror shine like other coolers, whether this affects the performance of this CPU cooler we shall find out. At the edges of the base are small holes where the mounting clips screw into.

The seven 5mm nickel coated copper heat pipes on the Asus are paired together at all four sides of the base. They twist round and go straight up through the aluminium fins until they eventually reach the cap of the Triton. As these heat pipes are in full contact with both the base and all the fins.

All of the fins on the Asus are made from 1mm Aluminium- which is the same colour as the heat pipes and base. At the front and back of the CPU cooler, the fins are bent upwards creating a stylish but subtle look.

Spaced in the middle of the aluminium fins is a blue LED 120mm fan which spins at 1,300 rpm with an 18dBA noise level. This Asus fan cannot be swapped for a different one though, which is a bit of a bummer. The fan is secured to the fins using two screws; unfortunately no anti-vibration pegs here guys.

At the top of the cooler is a golden cap which folds over at the edges of the cooler. This cap looks to be constructed from aluminium and has tribal patterns cut and beveled into it. In the centre of the cap is a swish polished Asus logo. At all four corners are the ends of the heat pipes which are just poking through and also some screws securing the golden cap to the top fins.

To power the Triton, a four pin connector is used- which also supports the older 3 pin type. This is great as it provides support for both older and newer motherboards.
