The Noiseblocker Coolscraper 3.0

The Coolscraper 3 builds on the v2.0s legendary platform of having one huge heatpipe instead of several smaller ones. Like the v2.0 the heatpipe on this is pretty damn big.

The heatpipe runs right through the length of the cooler and is neatly finished at the top with a machined aluminium cap bearing the Noiseblocker logo.

The fins on the cooler are also massive, this allows for faster dissipation of heat due to the larger surface area.

The cooler comes with a super silent 120mm fan, and when I say silent I mean it; when in an Antec sonata 3, it's inaudible. The fan is designed to spin slowly for maximum silence and is made of a clear blue plastic.

The fan is not connected to the heatsink when supplied, so it must be connected using the rubber mountings supplied.

At the contact base of the cooler you can see the core of the huge copper heatpipe. This has a machine finished look to it but does also seem very shiny. This means that the core is flat which also helps with dissipation of heat.

The contact point is protected by the usual plastic sticker to protect it from scratches during transit.

The Coolscraper must be connected to the mobo with screws this means installing the mounting plate on the rear of your motherboard, however this does mean that the cooler can be rotated 360̊ to enable the greatest airflow within your case.

It all looks pretty impressive with the large silver fins contrasting with the blue top of the cooler. I do have doubts over the quality of the fins however, as they bend very easily. The rotating base however feels much better quality than we have seen on previous versions of the Coolscraper.

A downside which I discovered immediately is that the product doesn’t come with the AM2 mounting kit which is usually delivered with most coolers. Although they say on the packaging that an AM2 mounting kit is "Available," I think they should make it more obvious that the kit must be bought separately.
