Installation

The entire kit can be pieced together outside of your case which makes life easier and there is less chance that a leak – rare it may be – from getting its watery hands on your rig.

The manual explains that it’s best to cut the tubes to the length that you require for your case. However, I couldn’t find any cases that this huge rad would fit in for various reasons, and so I’ll be testing outside of a case which is how our CPU cooler rig operates anyway. If you too find that the rad won’t fit into your case, fret not as Swiftech know and have created a device that tacks onto the back of your case, and then the rad sits on top. While this won’t look anywhere near as good as just having the rad inside it provides compatibility and apparently temperature improvements.

The kit is simple enough to piece together as all you do is pop the tube on to each of the barbs and then secure them with the provided clips. You can and should do this outside of your case, as next you have to fill the system with coolant. I grabbed our bottle of distilled water and began to fill the kit after mixing with the Hydrx solution provided. This stuff is bright green and prevents the kit from corroding and getting bunged up with algae… smells pretty bad too.

Turning on the pump and filling at the same time gets the job done quickly and the included funnel makes pouring an accurate job, rather than splashing green fluid everywhere. After leaving the kit for a while and shaking it to get every last bubble out, we were ready for PC installation.

Installing the block onto your motherboard will require the provided rear bracket if you are using the Intel version while the AMD bracket simply screws into the stock backing plate. It’s a very quick, simple process to complete and easily comparable to an air cooling solution.
