Installation
I’ll be installing this heatsink on an AM2 socket. The installation is quite involved and there are lots of little pieces that need to be in the right places. Fortunately the manual, which has lots of pictures, helps you along the way.
First of all, you’ll have to insert the hexagonal bolts and secure them with a rubber ring. Then peal off the sticky pad and stick it on the bottom of the backplate cooler and attach it to the backing bracket. Another pad, this time a thermal cushion, sticks to the top. This whole thing then gets placed on the back of your motherboard before you screw the two brackets on the top.
Now you have to decide which way round you want to mount the IFX-14 as you can rotate it by 90 degrees if your motherboard doesn’t work with it one way round. Now screw the pair of spring loaded bolts into place you are done.
Provided with the cooler are some rubber strips that stick to the heatsink and prevent fan vibration from passing onto the heatsink itself.
Now you have to grab the fan clips and squeeze them into the fan holes of your choosen blower.
