One thing that has pleased many a hardware nerd in the past few years is that geek culture has received a bit more recognition in main steam society; it's no longer hugely uncool to be a bit more technologically inclined. Who is your ISP?
I'm currently on sky, and all of a sudden, in peak times, the download rate drops to about 0.2mbps (or less), rather than the average 4.5 (more like 6 in the late morning of a week day).
