Installation
Installing the 8600GT OC was no problem at all. It fitted snuggly into my motherboard without issue due to its short length and thin, single slot cooler.
Testing
For graphics card testing, we put it through its paces with some synthetic and real world gaming benchmarks. These allow us to compare the card, not only to other cards, but to itself between stock and overclocked states. The PC that the 8600GT was tested in was as follows:
C2D E6600 @ 2.7ghz
Asus P5W-DH Deluxe
OCZ Special Ops. @ 900mhz
Tagan Silver Power 600w
The cards that I compared this GPU to were: MSI 8600GT Passive, MSI 8600GT Passive Overclocked and a Sapphire x1950 Pro.
Overclocking
Since the 8600GT from Galaxy comes factory overclocked I didn't hold out much hopes for a big OC with this card. However, once I powered up ATI Tool I was pleasantly surprised. Although the card was windows stable at 660/900 it was only benchmark stable at 650/870. Therefore the speeds this card was tested at were as follows:
Stock: 600/800
Overclocked: 650/870
