Testing

The rest of the test rig was as follows:

CPU: Conroe E6600 running at 3.29ghz
Motherboard: Asus P5W DH Deluxe Motherboard
Memory: 1gb (2*512) OCZ PC2 6400 memory
Power Supply: Hiper TypeR 580w PSU

The tests I ran during the testing phase were as follows: 3dMark01, 3dMark03, 3dMark05, 3dMark06 and for some real world tests, the demo run through benchmark built into the FEAR demo (The settings were "Maximum" on "Computer" ", "Maximum" on "Graphics Card") and the X3 reunion demo benchmark.

Stock

3dMark01 42759
3dMark03 17704
3dMark05 10567
3dMark06 5255
FEAR Avg. FPS 85.5
X3 Avg FPS 96.6

As you can see the card performed excellently in all the benchmarks. However what I was really interested in doing is seeing what this card was capable of overclocking too, and more importantly what it was capable of doing once overclocked.

So out came the latest Beta version of ATITool with the x1900 support and up went the case fan speed to make sure I had maximum cooling for my already quite warm GPU. I was able to raise the core clock by 70mhz and the memory clock by 100mhz before things started crashing so I left it at the setting and reran the benchmarks to see what my rig was no capable of. The overclock I was able to achieve is around 11% on the core and nearly 15% on the memory which gives me clocks higher than an x1900XTX has, lets see what the card benches like at these clocks:

3dMark01 46529
3dMark03 19925
3dMark05 11938
3dMark06 6067
FEAR Avg. FPS 86
X3 Avg FPS 97.3

Even with just that little bit of overclocking I am nearing the magical 50k on 3dmark01, and so close to 20k on 3dmark03. I think that with an aftermarket cooler and the application of some Arctic Silver 5 on the core I would be able to break those barriers with no problem.
