Noise Level
Noise wise, a single 9800GX2 is pretty annoying. Put two together, and it's like having a mini jet engine hidden in your room. Those who want top notch graphics performance, without damaging their ears, should look elsewhere.
Cost
at £350, even a single 9800GX2 is out of most people's price range, but 2? You might be able to get a deal for spending so much with some retailers, but look to be spending well over £600 on 2 of these bad boys.
Conclusion
SLI has always been quite a troubled technology and since the Quad SLI setup is probably nVidia's most ambitious venture in the dual GPU direction yet; it's surprising it works as well as it does. While the performance in some of the tests really was very impressive, there were still some issues. Cost being the biggest factor, two of these are just too damn expensive. There's also the memory issue, and the fact that the technology is Vista only is silly. Most gamers still use XP due to Vista's game slow downs, so why make your top gaming technology Vista only?
Bottom line, Quad SLI gives you just about the best performance money can buy, but you'll need a lot of money to buy it, and you'll need to pander to it's every need; of which there are many.
| Pros | Cons |
| Great performance in most games | Very expensive |
| Looks impressive | Very loud |
| Vista only | |
