Testing

There were two stages to the testing, one out of the case, and one where the fan is installed.

First, I simply connected the fan to a spare header and put it right next to my ear to test noise output. The fan pumps out a fair amount of air, and is VERY quiet. Chuck in the U.L.N.A and you half the air output, but you cannot hear the fan when it’s on. I like.

Once in my case, the fan could not be heard at all above the other components, and the rubber mounts made sure that the fan didn’t pass any vibration on to the case.

We now test for dust build-up when testing fans to make sure that you aren’t groping through your PC removing the dead skin and other air-borne nasties. After a week of continuous usage, the Noctua fans looked as good as new. The optimised blade geometry not only makes for silent operation, but no dust. I really like.
