MSI P6N-Diamond Close Up
As motherboards go, the P6N 'aint bad looking. Its got a sexy black PCB and although there are quite a lot of different colours used for certain parts of it, none of them are garish enough to detract from the overall look of it.
It has a striking 3-part cooling setup with copper heatsinks - all linked by heatpipes - beginning at the southbridge:
Then to the Northbridge:
And finally ending in the largest sink of them all, on the PWM area.
The board also features 7 pastel coloured SATA ports:
Interestingly this board has 4 PCI-E 16x slots which allows for not only SLI in it's current form, but future Quad SLI. Unfortunately when all slots are being used it drops their bandwidth to 8x which could cause compatibility problems if any future cards require 16x.
The obvious 4 DIMM slots in orange and green:
The on-board X-Fi chip looks a little under whelming (where's the funky heatsink?) and is hidden under the edge of the 4th PCIE-16x slot:
You need an 8pin power connector for this mobo so those without will need to take into account a PSU upgrade as well as the rather large price tag on this board.
