Jumbo sized

The QcK comes packed in a plastic tube with a cardboard shroud that is coloured and designed in the same manner as other SteelSeries products. From the word go you know that this pad will be massive; the packet is pretty heavy.

Once opened, you can see where the weight has gone. The pad is about as thick as a Bic biro and this gives it good padding. This is especially interesting to LAN party goers as often the desks that they are playing on are either stolen or procured from an antiques store. The surface of these rickety benches is never the best and a standard cloth pad won’t suffice. Instead, the extra padding that the QcK comes with absorbs all of the surface grooves and notches and gives you a flat gaming surface… or at least that’s the theory.

The surface of the QcK heavy doesn’t appear to be treated with anything (e.g. a plastic coat to improve the smoothness) instead it is a virgin cotton surface.

The pad is nothing special in the way of looks; just plain black with the standard SteelSeries logo in the bottom left corner. Unlike the 5L or a NOID pad, this isn’t going to turn heads, but that’s not what mouse pads are all about; if they do its just a bonus.

The shape is exactly the same as the QcK+ with its rounded corners and rectangular dimensions. Hopefully the gaming surface should also be the same.

The pad is 5mm thick which gives the QcK some serious weight; enough to cause some serious pain if you roll it up and whack someone (this test was carried out). You should be able to use it on a gravel driveway and still be greeted with a level surface.

The rear of the pad is the usual grooved rubber affair that nearly every cloth pad maker uses; far from being a bad thing, this grip method works.
