Conclusion

The PowerFuse does perform as expected but the fact that the fuse is not replaceable does let it down somewhat. The 6 pin PCI-E connector is unfortunately not sufficient for top of the line GPU’s like the 8800 ultra or 9800GTX as they both use two PCI-E power connectors. The results did reflect the hypothesis that the PowerFuse would be effective, however there is some doubt as to whether it would protect against a sudden incredibly high voltage surge such as that created by a lightning strike.

Now, it should be understood that there is competition in this market with the likes of Tagan releasing similar products. If Spire fixes the issue with the non-replaceable fuse they will surely become the undisputed leaders in the area of graphics card care.

Judging by the performance of this item, I would definitely recommend it if the price is right.

Pros Cons
Looks good Fuse can't be replaced
