Revoltec Fightpad Close Up

NB: Although Revoltec saw fit to call this the FightPad, I consider this product a gameboard - since it mimics a keyboard - and therefore whenever I mention the gameboard, I am referring to the FightPad.

The FightPad is curved in stature. It begins at the wrist rest with a gradient that then flattens and has a small kick-up at its "top" to accommodate the F1-F12 buttons. Because of the way that it's split by its gradients, it can be divided into separate sections: the front wrist rest, the middle WASD style keys and the top function keys.

The whole board - apart from buttons and rest - is covered in a glossy plastic, carbon fibre styled surface. This makes it look very "professional gamer", like more of a tool than a gaming accessory.

The central section of the FightPad is dominated by 6 central buttons that are designed to replace the standard gamer keys on their keyboard: Q,W,E,A,S and D. These are arranged slightly differently than their keyboard counterparts. It will be interesting to see if this affects gaming with them.

Around these central keys are 6 programmable function keys, a reload button (M17) situated below them - as apposed to the standard "R" key which is on level with Q,W and E - and two volume control buttons on the left.

Moving upwards from the centre of the board, we have two rows of keys which are the first 10 "M" keys which also double as the number keys from the keyboard. Above these is the escape and function (FN) keys which have the F1-F12 buttons wedged between them.

A bit further down the FightPad, just above the wrist rest is the enlarged jump key; undoubtedly placed to mimic the space bar on the keyboard - the standard gamer's jump key.

Just below this we have the wrist rest itself which also sits your hand as you use the board. Its made of a soft rubber or silicone and is more than comfortable enough to rest any appendage on it.

The back of the board is matt black plastic with a raised ridge in the centre which balances the FightPad while in operation. To keep it from sliding around, Revoltec have added 4 rubber feet to steady it during your frantic, fragging sessions.
