Box and Bundle

The Valo comes packaged in some of the best looking and most efficient boxing I've ever seen; though I have actually seen this packaging before, so I guess I have seen something this good in the past... Ontop of the usual box, to keep the product protected from harm are two large chunks of charcoal coloured polystyrene that would prevent any falls or breakages during transit; a fine idea.

The front of the packaging beneath has a life size image of the keyboard, all lit up and tinted in blue. Along the edges are a few feature listings, as well as a large Roccat Valo logo in the top left hand corner.

On the right hand side is a small window to the keyboard inside the box, inside the polystyrene though you can't see much through the duel plastic film.

Along the back we have the usual multi-lingual specifications, as well as a few more feature lists; which turn out to be surprisingly long for a keyboard.

Removing the polystyrene padders allows you to lift up the lid on the front of the packaging. Beneath which is a more detailed picture of the valo, with some blown-up close-ups of the more interesting features. Also, along the top flap are some more characteristics though not intrinsically linked to the larger photo.

Of course there are also the obligatory quotes from the pro gamers, which are as close as PC peripherals get to celebrity endorsement. I'm not a big fan of these and don't really see the need. A product should sell on its merits, not because someone who was given one for free says it's good or not. You wouldn't catch me telling people what to buy while writing on a free keyboard... wait...

Along with the box - hurray - you also get the usual viral marketing leaflet, your Roccat members card, a driver CD and a quick installation manual.

There's also 3 packs of replaceable macro keys of varying colours should you wish to change the aesthetics of the board...
