The iGreen Power 430w

When I received the parcel, I was excited; the box was HUGE! Whilst looking for a way to get into the box, I saw the small green logos saying that inside was a ‘green’ product; Coolermaster are really trying to big up their environmentally friendly power supply… After opening the box, I saw a collection of expanded foam figure-8’s, and the familiar shade of purple that Coolermaster have made their own on the PSU box.

The box that houses the unit isn’t really up to the normal Coolermaster standard with the front being good apart from the WordArt-esq yellow with black outline text. Other than this, the packaging was everything that I expect from boxes these days with the products specs on the back and a beauty shot of the product on the front. On the top was an easy carry handle for when you buy the product from a shop or if you like carrying around your PSU separate from your PC :P.

On opening, the egg-box style container protects the iGreen from knocks and bangs in transit. In the box you get the power supply itself, a small bag of 4 screws, a kettle plug cord and a fat instruction manual. As usual, the instruction manual is 2% English and 98% other language.

The first thing that strikes you about the PSU is how shiny it is, you seriously could replace your bathroom mirror with this baby. It would appear that Coolermaster’s ‘High Quality Electroplating’ lives up to its name. As is the norm now a-days, if it’s not shiny, it’s not cool. Running with this thought, the iGreen Power is very cool…

Looking at the custom fan grill you see the shiny Coolermaster logo, which in practise will never really be seen in your rig unless you’re looking for it. However, it does look awesome, something that I’ve begun to expect from Coolermaster.

The sleeved wires are really a standard in today’s PSU market, but I feel that Coolermaster have gone one better. Not only will the sleeved cables increase airflow in your case, but they are really flexible. This means that installing the unit will be easy, but more importantly, you’ll be able to stow the cables you aren’t using into areas that don’t need airflow.
