Conclusion

After using this PSU, it became obvious that the ceiling watt limit of 1200W is ridiculously unneeded. For a SLI 8800 Ultra setup, the maximum it pulled was 400W. Give yourself a 200W for spikes and overclocking plus a couple of additional hard discs, and you are talking half of the maximum possible for this PSU. Baring in mind that most units are most efficient at upwards of 70% of their maximum, buying a unit that will stay at 30% usage at full tilt with £1000+ hardware and less than a quarter usage at idle seems wasteful.

When you consider that this unit can’t run more than four graphics cards (only four PCI-e connectors), the 1200W limit seems rather high.

That said, the unit does manage to keep wastage to a minimum, in both powered on states and in standby. The rails are perfectly stable and the noise is low enough to not cause an issue.

The bottom line is, if you case will accept the size of the Tuniq Ensemble, and your power requirements call for over a kilowatt of energy, this PSU is a wise investment.

Pros Cons
Quiet operation Needs more PCI-e connectors
High maximum wattage Not modular
Efficient
